Troubleshooting startup issues on macOS
Recent macOS updates require explicit permission for apps to modify system settings, such as adding a launch agent. If you’re encountering issues with an app not launching automatically, follow the steps below.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Ensure App Is Up to Date
Open the app and go to the About tab. This will trigger a forced update to the latest version. -
Reconfigure Startup Settings
After updating the app:- Untick, then tick the “Automatically launch app at startup” option again.
- A system prompt will appear asking for permission.
-
Grant Startup Permission
When prompted:- Click Allow to permit the app to be added to the startup list.
- If you click Disallow or ignore the prompt, the app will not be able to start automatically.
Additional Notes
If the prompt doesn’t appear or the app still doesn’t start, repeat the steps above and ensure all permissions are properly granted.
Let us know if the issue persists after completing these steps.
