For remote and distributed teams
See that every laptop is secure, wherever your team works
Your team works from everywhere, on machines you'll never physically see. Pareto checks that every laptop is encrypted, up to date, and locked, and shows you the status of your whole fleet in one place, with a lightweight, read-only app that respects your team's privacy.
Free for up to 5 devices. No credit card required.
You can't secure what you can't see
Your people are spread across cities and time zones, on their own laptops and home networks. You're still responsible for proving every one of those devices is secure, for an audit, a customer security review, or simple peace of mind. But you can't walk over and check a screen, and forcing heavy device management onto a distributed team creates more friction than security.
Chasing everyone for screenshots doesn't scale, and it tells you nothing a week later when a setting quietly changes.
One dashboard for a team that's everywhere
- 1Every device runs the app
- Each person installs the open-source Pareto app once. It checks their Mac, Windows, or Linux machine quietly in the background.
- 2You see the whole fleet
- Link the devices to Pareto Cloud for a live view of every laptop's security status, wherever in the world it is.
- 3You're alerted when something drifts
- When a device falls out of line, you and the owner get notified by email or Slack, with a clear way to fix it.
The checks that keep a distributed team compliant
Pareto runs 30+ checks on every device and turns them into audit-ready reports for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and Cyber Essentials, so a remote fleet counts as evidence, not a blind spot.
- Disk encryption
- Lose the laptop and the data stays unreadable (FileVault, BitLocker).
- Up-to-date software
- The operating system and key apps carry the latest security patches.
- Firewall and sharing
- The device isn't exposed on the home and public networks people work from.
- Screen lock
- A password and a short auto-lock protect an unattended machine.
"We're 100% remote. I didn't want invasive endpoint protection, but we still need everyone following security best practices. Pareto is a great solution."
Remote team security FAQs
Do I need an MDM to secure a remote team?
No. An MDM takes control of devices, which is heavy-handed for a distributed team and hard to enforce. Pareto verifies that each device is secure and gives you the evidence, without managing or locking anything.
Can my team use their own laptops?
Yes. Because Pareto is read-only and needs no enrolment, people are willing to run it on their own machines, which is exactly where remote device security is hardest to prove.
Can it see what my team is doing?
No. Pareto only reads security settings, like whether the disk is encrypted or the firewall is on. It can't see files, browsing, or messages, it can't track anyone, and it can't change anything. The code is open source, so anyone can confirm it.
What happens when a device falls out of compliance?
You and the device owner get an alert by email or Slack, with a clear explanation of what's wrong and how to fix it. The owner stays in control of their machine, so there are no forced changes.
Will it slow down their machines?
No. Pareto is a lightweight app that runs its checks in the background and stays out of the way. People often forget it is there until it flags something.
Which operating systems are supported?
macOS, Windows, and Linux, with the same checks across all three.
