Privileged Helper Authorization on macOS
When installing or updating Pareto Security, you may be prompted to authorize the Pareto Security helper. This helper is required for certain security checks that need system-level access.
Authorization Steps
- When prompted during installation, click Authorize in the Settings Permissions dialog
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions)
- Navigate to General → Login Items & Extensions
- Find Pareto Security in the “Allow in Background” section
- Enable the toggle next to Pareto Security
Why This Is Needed
Pareto Security runs with elevated privileges to perform security checks that require system-level access, such as:
- Monitoring system security settings
- Checking for security updates
- Verifying firewall configurations
- Inspecting system integrity protections
Without this authorization, some security checks may not function properly or may show errors.
Troubleshooting
If you don’t see Pareto Security in your system settings:
- Ensure Pareto Security is fully installed
- Try restarting the Pareto Security app
- If issues persist, check the logs for more information
